Formed in 2018, the Admiral Arthur W. Radford High School Legacy Club was created to make high school a more meaningful and fun experience for students. The club’s “legacy” is aimed at “leaving behind” positive change that benefit their school and community through the results of services and projects.
With the guidance from science and resources teacher, Ms. Daniella Griffay, one of the club’s 2020-2021 projects focused on the creation of handmade fabric face masks to assist safety precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using donated materials, the talented group of students created reusable masks with adjustable ear loops. The finished products have been distributed to our kupuna in assisted living homes and keiki in shelters. A portion of the masks were donated to Hale Kipa, a nonprofit that provides emergency shelter, foster care, as well as a wide range of programs and services to Hawaii’s youth.
