Aloha Kākou,
Hale Kipa is privileged to help usher Hawaiʻi’s ‘ōpio toward a holu (resilient) future. We are continually in awe of those we serve, many of whom overcome adversity, trauma, and seemingly insurmountable odds to build successful, fulfilling lives. The courage of these youth and families inspires our ʻohana every day. Their victories and Hale Kipa’s ability to enhance the resilience of our keiki, ʻōpio, ‘ohana, staff, and organization would not be possible without your kindness. It brings me great joy to share some of our latest initiatives and goals for the remainder of 2024 and beyond.
Hale Kipa strives to prepare the youth and adults we serve for self-sufficiency beyond Hale Kipa. To that end, we recently launched the Financial Loi and Maolipreneur classes in partnership with the Wai‘anae Economic Development Council for anyone who receives Hale Kipa services and those in the surrounding community who are interested. The classes are held at our ʻOhana Resilience Services at Hale Kū Ola in ʻEwa Beach. The programs teach life skills, financial literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and career training in trending occupations.
Looking ahead, our goal is to continue building resilience by investing in health and wellness. We aspire to incorporate a fitness and wellness program for our young people on our property, by building a workout gym with equipment. Incorporate and reinforce ʻāina-based learning by enabling our participants to grow their own healthy food. Hale Kipa will soon own its own freight farm and will add hydroponic farming to our learning base, as well as Korean Natural Farming.
Our passionate staff is the backbone of our organization and the key to our success. Like the youth we serve, our staff must be resilient to undertake Hale Kipa’s demanding and often emotionally taxing work. Last year, we began professional development and wellness initiatives including supervision training courses, counseling, and discounted gym memberships. This year we are adding gym membership options for our neighbor island staff and trauma-informed supervision training.
We couldn’t be prouder of our accomplishments or more grateful for your contributions. With your support, we are enhancing the resilience of our staff and ushering the youth and families we serve into the productive futures they deserve. Please join us in reinforcing this work and realizing our vision for the future. Mahalo nui loa for your continued compassion and consideration and for believing in what we do at Hale Kipa to mālama our keiki, ʻōpio and young adults. To make a contribution, CLICK HERE.
In service, together…no nā keiki, ʻōpio a me ʻohana.
