Hale Kipa will soon receive a generous $70,000 donation as a result of a matching campaign conducted by the Polamalu family. 

Troy and Theodora Polamalu personally donated $10,000 from their nonprofit, the Polamalu Foundation. Nine other families and businesses also pledged funds to reach the total. 

Last month, Troy and Theodora Polamalu and their two boys, Ephraim & Paisios, visited and toured Hale Kipa’s Old Fort Weaver Road Campus. During that visit, they met with Hale Kipa’s leadership, staff, and some of the facility’s young residents. 

“Hale Kipa is extremely grateful to the Polamalu Foundation and the other contributors,” said Hale Kipa CEO Venus Rosete-Medeiros. “The fact that the Polamalu ‘ohana visited our site to hear about our organization meant so much to us. Their kind, humble, and genuine spirit was felt by each and every one of us who had the opportunity to spend time with them.” 

Troy Polamalu, who played football for the Pittsburgh Steelers for 12 years, is of Samoan descent. The family chose to contribute to Hale Kipa due to its focus on Polynesian youth and trauma-informed care, which Theodora is very passionate about. Troy Polamalu also donated a helmet and jersey which will be featured in an upcoming Hale Kipa silent auction from November 25th through December 1st.

The Polamalu family created the Troy & Theodora Polamalu Foundation Fund to create a personal vehicle for them to share their fortune with the community around them and the lands of their heritage.
